13. Why would you despise it?
Karen has one of the best true alto voices in history. Both of the Carpenters Christmas albums are classics. (Her best is "Merry Christmas Darling - a staple on easy-listening stations)

14. I prefer instrumental Xmas music, personally.
The sheer repetition with the vocal stuff gets old. I Get quite tired of hearing Elvis and Sinatra at this time of year.

As an antidote I've burned a few discs of instrumental jazz versions of Xmas songs and ones that have become ALMOST Xmas songs (Coltrane's "Greensleeves" and "My Favourite Things" are 2 especially good ones).

18. Frank first, but Bing is a mighty close second!
Their collaborations on "We Wish You The Merriest" and "Go Tell It On The Mountain" are fab-u-lous.

I love both of their versions of Adeste Fideles.

But Frank edges out a little bit for his swingier, jazzier versions of some of those great standards.
