Poll question: STD Poll!
Which of these horrible, scarring, repugnant sexually transmitted diseases would you least like to have?

I'm omitting AIDS because it's a pretty obvious choice :(

1. One that isn't very apparent that you have it
I wouldn't want herpes, genital warts, crabs for the obvious reasons but I also wouldn't want to have one like HPV because it can easily go undected unless you get regular check ups.

I would rather know I had something so I can go get it treated but something like HPV scares me b/c you could have it and pass it on to someone else without knowing you even have it and you could still pass it off to someone even if you use a condom.

2. There are 2 groups of genital HPV virus
Edited on Sat Dec-11-04 10:38 PM by Dropkick
Low risk and high risk. Low-risk causes warts, unsightly yes, but nothing life or fertility threatening (hence the name low-risk). High risk strains of genital HPV do NOT cause warts, BUT, they cause cervical abnormalities (it is estimated that upwards of 85-90% of ALL bad PAP's are due to this) which can lead to cervical cancer (in a few very aggressive strains, these changes can progress from nothing to cancer in an ~extremely~ short period of time; more than 90% of cases of cervical cancer are due to HPV). Also, there is NO reliable test in men for high-risk HPV. None. And, only in extremely rare cases does it even cause an effect in men. So women can never know if they've been exposed/infected until changes occur. Fun.

3. Scabies is fully curable
I'll deal with the itching and dig em out with a knife if I have to.
