3. I'm conflicted...
Yeah, Winnepeg needs an NHL team...but I lived in the Phoenix area when the Jets became the Phoenix Coyotes.

6. Well, the Coyotes won't be moving to Winnipeg.
But there's many other candidates for teams that could.

4. I can see Winnipeg getting a team back.
If the NHL fixes its problems, there's several teams I could see moving up to Winnipeg.

New arena, built-in fanbase, yeah I'd say you guys have a good chance.

7. Just Don't Say the Penguins are moving up there...
..cause they won't.

Some people from that site have harped on the penguins as being one of the prime choices for relocation because of their bankruptcy several years ago. But since then they've been profitable. In fact there are 20 teams in the NHL that lose more money annually than the Penguins do, who actually eek out a slight profit. Of course that means they have one of the lowest payrolls in the league, but they started to gell at the end of the last season, the last quarter of the season they were one of the best teams in the league. Look it up.

If you want a hockey team take one from Florida or Arizona, or freaking LA. Why Los Angeles needs 2 hockey teams I'll never get.

8. I don't think the Pens will move either.
I think most people on the site are looking for either the Hurricanes or Predators to relocate.

I'm personally banking on the Huricanes.

11. One or the other
Nashville seems to be developing a following. Carolina though, the year after the Stanley Cup, couldn't sell out their first games. Embarrasing.

12. The NHL is in the situation it is in, because...
Edited on Sun Dec-12-04 12:09 AM by SmileyBoy
Raleigh, North Carolina has an NHL team and Winnipeg and Quebec City do NOT.

This is what I see as THE reason why the NHL is in a lockout right now. Bettman tried to make the NHL an NBA-style league in terms of American fan following (Read: Sun Belt), and it failed on him.

I mean, hell, they took the NHL away from MINNESOTA at one point, fer chrissakes.

10. I like it.
The Jets were cool and Winnipeg deserves a team a hell of a lot more than many of the cities that have em.
