I think the Fixx were kinda stuck in a Bowie/Eno/Numan "new wave depersonalization" kick where the cool thing to do was write lyrics like a robot bemused by human behavior and sing like Roger Waters. Except that they weren't very good at the lyrics part. (The melodies were cool, though)
