What would it take for you to leave and NEVER come back? |
|
How much money (or other measurable commodity) would it take for you to agree to leave your home country and never return?
How much extra would it take for you to never again speak your native tongue? (Learn a new language?)
Where would you go?
I realize that there are people for whom these may be more than idle questions, and I don't mean to make light of their situations, which must be horendous. But it's Saturday night in the lounge, for heaven's sake.

I'd like to retire south of Cancun. That's been my plan for 10 years. Aaaahhh, Mexico! The people are warm and friendly, the food is muy sabroso, the pace is slow, the language is beautiful, and the Gulf water is clear.
But I don't like the part of never coming back. If the f'ers bring back the draft (I have a 20-yr old son) - I guess I'd be going sooner than expected.

4. I'm not that attached to my country, just some of the people in it. |
|
So, enough money for me to relocate comfortably to the country of my choice, as well as bring any family along who wanted to come with. Certainly on the order of tens of millions of dollars, if not higher.

7. Yes, that's a big one for me too. |

Could be fun though, a HUUUUUUUGE party once every few months, with friends flown in.
There are some things I'd miss, others I wouldn't.

5. NEVER speak English again? I would pay someone for THAT. |

I'm just not a fan of the English language.
What would it take for me to leave the US? Uh, QUITE a bit. Quite a bit. Although I've been thinking that living in, say, the Netherlands or Sweden for a few years after college wouldn't be so bad... but that's not forever.

I will defend my family, neighbors and country in ways that would make Iraqi insurgents disgusted if we were ever invaded and occuppied. But industrial aventures are a whole nother thing.
