What's your favorite "West Wing" episode? |
|
Mine was shown last night on Bravo. Bradley Whitford's character is in the hospital recovering from a gun-shot wound. The entire episode is a retrospective of how he got involved in Bartlett's campaign. At the end of the episode, he is told his father died. This is just after Bartlett won the primary in Illinois. Whitford is waiting at the airport to go home to bury his father when Bartlett comes there and asks him if he should come home with him. Bartlett is persuaded to go to California for the next primary. What happens next gets my vote for one of the best moments in TV history. As Bartlett walks off you hear his acceptance speech for the presidential nomination, with the cheering in the background. It is a very moving and exciting speech, and it reminds of what this country could once again become. I highly recommend this episode.

It's impossible not to cry while watching "In Excelsis Deo," at least for me.
I'd also have to go with the episode where President Bartlet is pacing the church floor, shouting at God in Latin after losing Mrs. Landingham, as a close second.
Believe it or not, my favorite "West Wing" character is Ainsley the Republican lawyer. I'm only sorry that she got written out for "CSI Miami".

2. Thanks, I just switched to Bravo and found the one I've been |
|
looking for for ages in my tapes.
It's the one where Bartlett chews out the Religious Right lady and asks her "do we have to have the whole town gathered outside the city walls to stone my brother to death for sowing two different crops side-by-side" and some stuff about garments made of two kinds of cloth.
And then he tells her that when the President stands up, nobody stays sitting.
Yes, Yes, thank you.
Certainly one of my favorites was when the Secret Service guy who had been guarding c. J. Craig was shot and killed.

It seems obvious to me that they will be portraying the GOPig as an out of control hawk.
Remind you of anyone you know?

5. My love hate relationship with the Death of Mrs Landingham |
|
I hated when Mrs Landingham died, it broke my heart. But I have to admit the two episodes were great. I loved the part where we saw them 40 years earlier when she said he needed an older sister. The actress who played her younger was just as wonderful as the actress who normally played her.
Then later she comes back to him in his dream and tells him not to be a chicken. You know why they are so close, you see that after all those years she really was like a big sister to him. Suddenly they have all this history.
I hope they don't ruin the show this year with the repugs getting more time.

where Josh is diagnosed with post traumatic stress disorder, and hearing the cello is like hearing the sirens when he was shot.

7. that Big Block of Cheese one ... |
|
.... where Josh and CJ meet with the Cartographers for Social Responsibility. I'm a geographer and have gotten SO many questions about those maps. I met one of my best friends because of that ....
I also like the one where Jed speaks in Latin. And the one where he skips out of the state dinner to stay on the phone with the sailor who's unsure whether his ship is going to make it through the storm.
