Looking into emergency phone dialer for my mom... |
|
one that just dials numbers when you press a button on a pendant, not the kind that has a monthly service/monitoring plan. My mother lives with us now and she's getting up into that prime fall-down-broken-hip age (81).
I've seen these for anywhere from $65 (Radio Shack) to $250 (online places).
Anybody have any experience with these?

1. No, but it sounds like a good idea |

Make sure you get one that's waterproof and that your Mom knows she's supposed to wear it in the shower. Fat lot of good this device will do if your Mom falls in the bathroom and it's sitting on the nightstand!

2. I do expect that to be a problem... |

years ago I got her a cordless phone and to this day she leaves it on the charging stand about 90% of the time. It just doesn't occur to her that it doesn't do her any good like that - the whole idea was to be able to carry it around.
