Wife and I spent good part of the day removing it from one room - nice wood floors underneath. I am planning on doing the rest while she and the little one are out of town for three weeks with in-laws for christmas and I am home on vacation. Should be fun :)

5. zapping the wasps' bike every year |
|
every year they set up home in the eaves soffit area. Every year I get out the furniture polish and that kills 'em off much more effectively than commercial bug spray. Bugger the Geneva Convention, those little sods are nasty.

7. Wasps are your friends! |
|
Really, if you're into gardening at all, wasps are bugs that eat other bugs (that eat your veggies, etc). Especially those tent caterpillars -- wasps loooove those, and the tent caterpillars will chew the hell out of your trees. If they're not where they're gonna bite anyone, I'd leave 'em alone. (Of course, I'm also a 100% organic gardener, so YMMV -- I used to zap 'em too before I started reading about the benefits of having all of an ecosystem around you rather than trying to selectively kill off parts of it.)
I also like spiders. :D

9. you're right there, it's just the stinging that bugs (no pun) me |
|
I have a nice garden actually. And, I never kill spiders. They often get into the bath tub and can't get out so I scoop them up and deposit them in the crawl space under the floor. Spiders kill a lot of household pests including woodworm larvae. I can't see the point in killing spiders coz they aren't doing any harm (the wasps sting me!) I'll think about calling a truce with the wasp clan next year.

It seems like every three days I have to sort through piles of crap mail and other accumulations. I think my dog must have adventurous days or something.
