Some punk teenage kids just looked at me oddly.
I just went to 7-Eleven to get some cashews and a drink. On my way there i started getting into my Ramones CD. I pulled into the parking lot, and saw a bunch of punk looking kids hanging out in front of the store. They saw me, a 37 year old man in a Subaru Forster blasting "Sheena Is a Punk Rocker." I can only imagine what they were thinking.....

5. I agree
I think some teens assume all adults listen to nothing but Yanni. ;)

6. I do hear new stuff I like
but I swear overall the quality simply is not there - where are the groups with the staying power of the Stones and Beatles - how often does a guy get on a stage with just a guitar and harmonica - like Neil Young - and give a kick-ass concert without the benefit of special effects and costume changes?

4. Imagine if you were a 38-year-old suburban
mother of three driving a minivan.

I've had my share of weird looks too. ;)

10. I am so with you on that one! I crank the music in the mini-van, but
today, while loading a christmas tree on the van, I was blaring "Fortunate Son" and a guy got in his car, rolled down his window and started singing along! It was great.

:hi:

11. you guys are just babies
I'm 47 and get routinely get speeding tickets which I blame on my jamming hard to good old rock 'n roll - the last ones were Wheezer's HASHPIPE and AC/DC's WHOLE LOTTA ROSIE. :o

I was watching a live-AC/DC DVD last week and was Angus-stepping around my living room to Let There Be Rock!

I saw AC/DC five times in concert - I just love them. Yes INDEED!!!

17. Hehe!
I hurt myself a few times as a teen pulling some Angus moves. Now, i stick mostly with the Malcolm Young moves. ;)

Great band!

7. The fact that much of what I listen to is far more obnoxious
than anything their 19 year old son comes up with *really* puts off my repuke neighbors. I will NOT be outgunned when it comes to making eardrums bleed. :)

8. my friends and I often discuss this paradox
For example, I look like a university lecturer, I am part of the establishment, I live in a nice house and I'm middle aged.

But, I run three motorcycles, sometimes wear a bandana and play the Clash etc on my car CD when I'm working on my car/bikes on the forecourt of my garage. The local kids all talk to me when they pass my house. If they didn't see the bikes or hear the music though they'd probably ignore me.

12. How many punks does it take to change a lightbulb?
Three. One to change the lightbulb, one to kick the chair out from under him, and one to kick the second guy's ass.

15. 'Ramones' aren't really loved by today's punks.
At least, none of the punks my age that I know, and I know quite a few.

16. Who cares what they think? Teens think they invented music
and that before them no great music existed.

lolololol I bet my mom said the same thing about me.

21. I Borrowed My Son's Car the Other Day for a Trip to the Store
because it was a short trip and the engine was already warmed up. He has a subwoofer that takes up half the trunk, so I thought I would have some fun with the teenagers I saw in front of the store. I cranked up the volume to the point that I felt my spleen vibrating to the bass line of whatever hiphop CD was in the player. I wish I could have taken a picture of their incredulous faces.

22. Let's see, in 1984 I was the first on my block to own ....
The Red Hot Chili Peppers first album. I was 35 years old at the time. I remember, when the neighborhood kids came over for a listen, we had a heated debate on whether the Peppers would ever be as funky, enduring or as influential as The Beastie Boys....
