59 viruses and Norton is still scanning my hard drive!

Well, that certainly explains my PC's sluggish performance these past several months. Guess I should've gotten anti-virus software a lot sooner! :eyes:

3. Porn websites are the #1 way people get viruses and spyware.
Give your hand a rest!

4. you need more than AV software
Edited on Sun Dec-12-04 05:14 PM by McKenzie
you need anti-spware and trojan checkers too. An AV proggie might miss something that it does not recognise from its signature database. Norton is good though provided the sigs are up to date. Better still, use Linux.

Try these>>>

http://www.lavasoftusa.com/software/adaware/ (free)

http://www.pestpatrol.com/ (evaluation version can be d/loaded)

on edit: I always disable JavaScript and ActiveX controls when I'm surfing off Windbloze. Neither are required to view most websites. ActiveX is the usual way of installing diallers into your registry; JavaScript is the usual way of getting pop-ups/pop-unders. (the "event unload handler" kicks in if it's an exit pop)
