A journalist from the Nation wants to interview me! |
|
She wants to discuss abortion rights in the south with me. I am terrified.
I have always worked behind the scenes as a pro-choice advocate, but going on record in a widely-read national journal to discuss my advocacy and the failings of southern laws, well, that's scary to me...I would hate for my son to suffer the repercussions that will follow my name being in print in THE NATION.
What should I do? Should I see if the reporter will let me talk anonymously?
I don't want my house burned down, or worse. And those are the kinds of reactions I could possibly expect here in the deep south.
Advice, anyone?

See if you can get The Nation to provide security for your house over the next couple of months. If you are as afraid as you say you are, then either do it anonymously, or assert your second ammendment rights if necessary....and make sure they are toast when you get through with them.

6. do it with your first name only and your city and tell them why; they |
|
should have no problem with it. Tell them you are enthusiastic as hell about doing it, but your personal safety is of paramount importance

8. Have them disguise the city |
|
Just generally a large southern city or whatever. You are right to be concerned; these nuts are extremely violent and dangerous. Either that or use your maiden name or something. They're probably not going to agree to a fake name. But you could ask them to make sure you can't be traced directly.
