Crystal Pepsi!
Remember this? I remember being so excited about it and begging my mom to buy some! She did, and when I tasted it, I hated it. But I pretended to like it because it was CRYSTAL Pepsi.

Also, I remember the Saturday Night Live spoof of the commercials..."Crystal Gravy"

11. It tasted the same to me. Maybe the clarity led to psycological effects
kind of like when you think you are about to drink seltzer and it is sprite, it's so nasty when your expectations aren't what you get

give us brown fizzy, give us brown fizzy
and we'll sacrifice our teeth to you. Unless you go for the "diet" version. Oh boy.

Oh great symbol of western freedom you're just carbonated water with some flavouring. Sweet bejesus...brown fizzy water and we argue over Pepsi v Coke....

regards

2. Didn't last long, did it?
It was part of a "clear" craze in the 90's-Miller Clear, Palmolive Clear, pepsi, etc. I remember it tasted pretty much like Sprite. Apparently that brown food coloring they put in it makes it taste different.

7. No, it was a much bigger deal. It was part of the clear fad
the following products were hyping up their clear nature.

Zima (clear beer)
Amoco Gasoline
Clear Colas
Crystal Comfort (a clear version of Southern Comfort)

5. We would replace it with vodka at boarding school
and walk around on Fri/Sat nights, getting wasted at the campus dances. Ah, those were the days... :P

8. Ugh! I remember that ...
It was terrible! I'll never understand why companies can't leave their products alone. Why do they always have to mess up a good thing? Pepsi Blue tastes weird and Vanilla Pepsi tastes like one of those vanilla air fresheners you hang in your car! NOTE: I've never actually tasted air freshener, but I'm willing to bet it tastes a lot like Vanilla Pepsi. ;-)

But I know what you mean .... everyone WANTED to like Crystal Pepsi because it was different - just like everyone WANTED to like Zima, but it was so damn bad!

9. I actually liked the stuff
I was about 12 at the time so I didn't exactly have the most refined taste at the time.

13. I was about 43 and I really liked it...
tasted lemon-limey, not like Pepsi at all.

I bet I went though 50 two-liters of that stuff when it was out. I'd buy it again.

14. Here's one for you...

Clear Miller Beer. I actually bought a six pack of this stuff in the early 90s. It tasted just as bad as you would expect. I saved a bottle from the six pack, just for the heck of it. Needless to say, it's not quite as clear as it used to be - the yeast has "separated" and settled to the bottom of the bottle, giving it an evil brownish hue. Yuk!
