They're starting to promote that crap right now. I LOATHE that show. Loved it the first season when it actually was a reality show, before they realized that the person they wanted to win might now do so. Now it's just a factory for lower level pop singers.

1. Never even seen this stupid show
but I'm sick of every issue of Rolling Stone touting these losers as the next star. Especially that Clay Aiken freak. Anyone who wishes ill on cats deserves to fade into anonymity.

3. Can't argue about the cat thing, but...
Of all the winners and runners-up, I gotta give props to Clay for the best voice. All three winners - Kelly, Ruben, and Fantasia - shared a TV special, but Clay got one of his very own. THAT oughta tell you something.

5. I agree, Clay is the best singer they've come up with..I liked Kelly
Clarkson--she's got a great voice, but you'd never know it from the manufactured crap they make her put out--her songs are like most pop songs--ANYONE could be singing them.

7. Clay the cat hater
I've never understood how someone can just pick a species and hate it. Anyway, after reading this guy's interview in RS last year, I've pretty much dubbed him a loser. Interview is only an excerpt at their site, conveniently eliminating all the crap about his hatred of felines and wish they would all die, in addition to the sheltered little life he purposefully leads to avoid learning or experiencing anything.

Here's some other people who agree with me.

I'm sure we'll find it on the remainder table at our local store in 6 months or so.

I can't imagine what this weirdo has to say for more than half a page.

26.
Sorry, but I can totally relate to cat-hatred, since I'm a reformed cat-hater myself.

Cat allergies, plus living with some really nasty flea-ridden examples of the species (ones who used to jump up on the kitchen table and try to drink the milk in my cereal while I was still eating it). I've been scratched, hissed at, pounced on and slugged by them.

Cats can sense when you don't like cats (in actuality, they just prefer people who ignore them and don't stare at them) so I was always the first one a cat jumped on at any party or meeting at someone's house.

Now that I live with a cat, the milk-poaching has become adorable, as has getting slugged all the time, and I put up with the allergies.

But I have come to realize they're way more sociopathic than I ever thought back in my cat-loathing days.

15. Yeah, it's funny...
The same people that watch those shows will go "Jerry Springer, Im so glad I don't watch THAT trash". Both shows are terrible, but at least Jerry Springer is honest about his crappiness.

12. All the reality shows are dying
I hate them all.

Except for "Drawn Together."

Now THAT is one of the best shows I have seen in a long time.

If you haven't seen Drawn Together, then buy a TV and watch it.

13. here's how they get those weepy contestants:
did you know they banned waterproof mascara on that show? Crying looks 100% more dramatic when you get black smears down your cheeks!

I just don't watch it. I ignore it altogether and ignore the winners afterward. They're "C" celebrities.

20. Here's what kills me about "reality TV"
Most of our reality shows are borrowed or outright stolen from foreign markets. Survivor comes from Sweden, American Idol comes from the UK, the abysmal Chains of Love came from the Netherlands, etc. The one true American-born reality show I can think of offhand is Insomniac with Dave Attell, which is a really fresh approach to travel shows if you think about it.

21. I really don't mind...
American Idol that much. At least the contestants are having to demonstrate some semblance of musical talent in order to win, as opposed to inventing ways to screw other people.

There was talk that this season almost didn't make it.

I've enjoyed the show off and on, but I don't see how much more of this I can take.

25. Last Comic Standing is so much better
I don't like American Idol because I don't like that style of musical performance; I'm not a pop person, in fact it makes me want to puke (no offense to pop fans out there).

But if a comic is funny, he or she is funny. Style isn't as important.

29. Well, ridicule me but it's the only "reality" show I watch
It's about the only one where the people on it are simply competing based on their musical skill (or lack of same), rather than a lot of malicious backstabbing, or stupid 'alliances' that seek to get rid of one or more of the others. No one is eating horse's rectums or doing meaningless stunts that have nothing to do with whatever the competition is about.

I'm not saying it's the best thing on television, but I really don't mind it - certainly not when compared to much of the other dreck that's out there.

You can shoot me now.

Oh, and I really don't care if it's the last season or not. I just don't mind it.
