Poll question: "Goodfellas"...or "Pulp Fiction"?
Edited on Sun Dec-12-04 09:47 PM by D__S
Great scripts, dialog, characters and memorable moments....

"You think I'm funny". "Funny how?"

"Now I want you to go in that bag and find my wallet".

"Which one is it?"

"It's the one that says Bad Motherfucker on it".

For reference

"Pulp Fiction"

"Goodfellas (PDF)

Joe Pesci made that movie. And the music was amazing.

6. same here
I hope they make a second one(Travolta wants to). For me the difference is bigger. Pulp Fiction is the classic Cult movie, and it is the best one.

8. I do not know
I have heard they are planing a prequel to explain how things started. They may have someone else play his role and he will be play something else. I just heard that during one of the Film Festivals he discussed making another movie, but with a much larger budget.

10. I say make 'em make it with the same budget
too much money spoils good film.

14. I think that would be interesting
I don't think it would have as the original one, because you got more for your dollar then, it might be like Dr. Strangelove where it is filmed in 3 locations. But it would still be quite a project.

25. it's be a third one, actually
Remember, Vincent Vega is the brother of Michael Madsen's character in Reservoir Dogs.

Here's a bit from an interview Tarantino did earlier this year:

http://www.darkhorizons.com/news04/040423g.php

"I've got to like turn off now, from the whole kung-fu, spaghetti western homage I've been doing with Kill Bill and get back the one basic underlying story, alright. Kill Bill is something I think a lot of people will enjoy, alright, but not in the same way as say Pulp Fiction. Kill Bill has a story, but it's told different than my other films. But the equation that I would use is if you're a cook, alright, you can cook a meal for yourself or you can cook a meal for your family who you cook for everyday and they're waiting for it. If everyone's in the kitchen with their silverware, banging away, anxiously awaiting what you've cooked up, then it makes you want to do more and more, in turn, getting more creative along the way. Kill Bill has made me want to challenge myself. I'm going to do a war movie, I'm going to do an straight-up action movie and I'm going to do my first sequel.

It's a sequel to both Pulp Fiction and Reservoir Dogs, actually, it's a sequel and it's a prequel. It's the Vega Brothers, played by Michael Madsen and John Travolta. I have been trying to do it for years, and the more time I take, the older these two guys get. But I've come up with an idea that won't much matter how much they age....the magic of movies. It's going to be great. It'll be funny, and these guys are so great, alright, they're going to be like two oversized mob-men fighting over the last bowl of pasta, that we can't go wrong. It's just going to be John and Michael, and I hope to make this my next movie. We're laying down the pipework for it now."

He's apparently working on a WWII movie somewhere in here, too, so who knows?

because of Scorsese, the greatest Yank film director alive.

BY THE WAY, FELLOW CANUCKS: "Casino" is on the History Channel tonight (uncut, 'natch); repeats again in the wee hours (1am) if it gets in the way of the Simpsons/Arrested Development/Trailer Park Boys, ie. the usual Sunday night stuff...

21. Scorsese was the greatest Yank film director alive...
but I fear that he lost it several years ago. A couple of nights ago, I watched "Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore" which was essentially a "Marty needs a paycheck" movie, and its artistry outclasses his output of the past decade or so. His current movies look and feel just like those of everyone else. Granted, he pioneered so many of the techniques and tricks, but still...

12. Goodfellas->Brilliant. Pulp Fiction->Damn Good
What a puzzler you are D_S. This is like choosing between fillet and porterhouse.

Ray Liota was so brilliant, particularly when he was all coked up running around Queens at the end. That was TOO REAL. And, OMf'ing god, Joe Pecci shooting a guy in the trunk of a car and then getting shot when he thought he was made. The film was based on real events and it was just perfect from start to finish.

Pulp Fiction, yikes. What a difficult choice.

I like Goodfellas quite a bit, but you just can't beat Pulp Fiction when it comes to memorable dialogue.

15. I loved PULP FICTION, but the storylines were awfully contrived.
As such, I voted for GOODFELLAS.

"What are you still doin' here? I thought I told you, go fuck your mother!"

17. Goodfellas hands down!!!! My all time favorite movie.
I never get tired of watching it. Recently my husband asked me to pick up some show polish for him. When I got home, I gave him the bag and said "Now go get your shine box!" We both laughed really hard. And we always do the "Funny how" thing. LOL

18. Too much lazyass use of pop music in both of them
Although I did enjoy DeNiro's body language and Lorraine Bracco with the gun in her panties in "Goodfellas"

I really am sick of wall-to-wall pop music in every movie. Kenneth Anger, what have you wrought?

"Do the Right Thing" - he was the guy in the vintage convertible asking the kids no to spray him with the hydrant. he was also in the sopranos and casino.
him and pesci used to do a club act together in the 60's- 70's jazz + comedy!
my boss acted like he was a loser... but she married him and stopped working!! and i still go to the same chiropractor as them. he just filmed a commercial in ireland! he is a really charming guy. it was so cool to know i met him the day pesci killed him in what turned out to be my fave movie of all time.
