UPDATE!!!! remember my friend and her christmas party and the fundie
who thought she was making a mockary of Christmas?

Well, she had the party tonight: She moved it out doors(not to upset anyone it JUST got too big) well, Fundie and his Church decided to try and protest the party. Holding up signs stating they did nothave the true meaning of Christmas and that she was going to hell and junk like that. My friend made a plate of food went up to the fense and offered a plate to the Fundies who slapped it out of her hand. My friend just shrugged so a few more people made plates of food to offer the fundies who started to "get scared" at the fact no one was getting upset about the protest.

Finally Fundie neighbor claimed he would call the police because her party guess where making too much noise. The mayor of the town just stepped forward from and said "___(fundie's name) You go right ahead and do that". He than lead my friend to the Dance floor and started to dance with her.

Fundies left SUPER quickly after that.

1. I didn't see the original post about it.
How is having a party and making merry "making a mockery" of Christmas? What was Fundie objecting to, besides people having a good time?

2. I must have missed your earlier thread. Why was the fundie
pissed at your friend? What was the "terrible" part about her party?

5. Sorry for those who missed the earlier post. My friend loves Christmas/
holiday season. Goes all out and not just use the traditional Christmas decorations but she also decorates for her friends of different faiths.
Her new neighbor who is a fundie objected to her outdoor decorations and became enraged that she would invite him and his family to such a Mockery-type party.

Friend lives out in the country so their is one way leading onto the street and my friend's house is the first house on a bending road so her back yard is clearly visible anytime Fundie or anyone else on the street leaves the house. He basically has been rude to her since the party was announced.

8. "Those who truly do not have Christ in their heart has no right to a
a Christmas celebration and Christmas should not be degrated to a holiday festival for all demominations. Jaysus would not like his birthday so poorly celebrated". The Fundie Preacher.

I wonder what Jaysus would say about his little protest?

10. Well, I got news for them ...
Most of the traditions of Christmas pre-date the birth of Jesus Christ and December 25th is the birthdate of a Pagan god.

Google "Origin of Christmas" or "History of Christmas" - you'll find plenty of interesting info. I know the Fundies don't let little things like facts get in their way, but I love to see the look on their faces when I tell them Christmas trees come from Pagan tradition!

11. Considering we Christians picked a pagan holiday
for Christmas, you'd think we would be open to others celebrating around this time too.

17. So Jaysus
would npot even invite his own people? Man, Jaysus must've been a real jackass. Not to be confused with his 5th cousin Jesus.

12. People of different faiths getting together in peace to celebrate
Edited on Mon Dec-13-04 12:01 AM by Garbo 2004
the holiday season? Outrageous!

What next? Cats and dogs living together? ;)

Some people have way too much time on their hands, spending it sticking their noses in to others' business. Loved the punchline too. Protesting a private party and threatening to call the cops and the mayor was at the party? It appears the fundie neighbor was the only one disturbing the peace.

Sounds like the party was a blast. :D

14. Jesus' real birthday: In September (15th of Tishri)
Since John was born on Passover, the 15th day of Nisan (the 1st Jewish month), Jesus would have been born six months later on the 15th day of Tishri (the 7th Jewish month). The 15th day of the 7th month begins the Feast of Tabernacles (Lev. 23:34-35), also known as Sukkot. Jesus was born on the 1st day of the Feast of Tabernacles! In the year 5 B.C.E., this fell in the month of September.

This explains why there was no room at the inn for Joseph and Mary. A multitude of Jewish pilgrims from all over the Middle East had come to Jerusalem to observe the Feast of Tabernacles, as God required (Deu. 16:16). Bethlehem, which was only a few miles outside of Jerusalem, was also overflowing with visitors at this time because of the Feast.

15. Interesting-what is the story about solstice and Christmas in December?
Isn't that why it was orignially decided to be celebrated when it is?

16. Do I need to research this, or...
Isn't it pretty obvious the story goes something like this:

Christian: You should all become Christian or you will go to Hell

Pagan: OK, we'll become Christian. But we still want to celebrate winter solstice with our candles and trees, mistletoe and holly.

Christian: Alright, you can have your tree and candles and holly, but we'll save it for Jesus' birthday in September.

Pagan: Well, you know... September is no good for us. Our pagan gods demand we do this in December for the Winter Solstice.

Christian: Oh, fine. We'll move Jesus' birthday to December. Is that ok with you, Jesus? Jesus? Well, Jesus didn't say anything, so I guess it's ok.

Pagan: Hey, that's great! That was much easier than when we convinced the Jews to incorporate our traditions into the Passover Seder.

Christian: You're very welcome. I'm glad to have been of service. Now, if you don't mind, there's the matter of tithing to discuss, and I have some indulgences I'd like to sell you...

Jesus? Jesus? Well, Jesus didn't say anything, so I guess it's ok.
