Poll: Favorite Tom Waits album |
|
I didn't bother making this a real poll since it's too hard and there are too many to choose from...
My own answer is probably...whatever one I'm listening to...which right now would be Mule Variations
is it just me or is Tom Waits sadly underappreciated (to put it lightly)?

Have a soft spot for "Closing Time", especially the title track. Never fails to put a tear in my eye...

4. Well it ain't Bone Machine - |
|
Unless I'm in a very strange mood. Though I was surprised to learn last night that Brain played drums on it. Got to see him with Les Claypool and really enjoyed it.
My favorite would hafta be Blue Valentine just cuz it's got Romeo Is Bleeding and none of the others do.
One of the most under-appreciated talents of the 20th century, I'd say.

Although I don't like being forced to have one favorite.
"Bone Machine" is also a great one. And "Nighthawks At The Diner", and "Frank's Wild Years", and "Swordfishtrombones"...

7. Rain Dogs but a difficult choice that one! |
|
Inside a broken clock, splashing the wine with all the rain dogs Taxi, we'd rather walk, huddle a doorway with the rain dogs For I am a rain dog too. (from "Time")
His lyrics are absolute genius - some of his album cover art likewise. The photography on "Alice" is inspired stuff.
