Aysha, 4 year old survivor of the Iraqi War.

This is Aysha. She's one of the smallest victims of the Iraqi war. She was the lone survivor of her house hold. Eight others, including her little 3 year old brother, the grandmother who slept with her every night and ultimately saved her life, and her 24 year old mother who was 6 months pregnant, were ripped apart as part of an air raid looking to kill terrorists, but only got a few civilians trying to survive.

I am ashamed that I live in a country who is doing this to children and families in Iraq. I am more ashamed that they don't seem to give a shit.

1. And as a former newspaper reporter
I'm ashamed at the American media for ignoring these stories.

2. This is what creates terrorists; if a foreign army killed all of my family
you can bet i'd be looking to get back at them. these people don't "hate us for our freedom"; they hate us for our sheer hubris.

3. I know a guy who's over in Iraq right now
He's a great guy - a sergeant - and was supposed to be leaving the military at the end of this year. Then he got called to Iraq for a year. He won't get to come home on leave until next July, and will possibly come home for good next October.

He's sent lots of letters home and has been able to call more often than I would have thought possible. His comments on what he's seen in Iraq? "I want to move to Canada. I feel like the U.S. is no longer a place I can call home."
