My name is Lisa, I live in Detroit Lakes Minnesota. I've been lurking around DU for a couple weeks, made a few posts. I work as a mostly disgruntled web designer and in ecommerce marketing.

I'm a pissed off progressive that busted my tail for John Kerry in Minnesota, where did have a victory, my red county went dem for the first time in 50 years! YAY!

I was a precinct leader for MoveonPAC and I work with the DFL here in Minnesota.

In April, I'll be going to work full time for Senator Mark Dayton's re-election campagin.

Well, that's me! Nice to meet you all. Looking forward to posting on DU on a regular basis. I'm also a regular poster on Randi's board and have been for most of this year.

14. hi! i've lurked for a long time, been posting only recently

i'm marianne. i live just outside of DC, where i'm a software weenie/beltway bandit. i marched against the war from the very earliest marches on - all up and down the east coast. was at the brutally cold NYC march when the cops ran their horses into the crowds. marched in the rains in DC the morning the invasion began, it felt the the whole universe was mourning with me.
i have written and called my congresscritters extensively, wrote letters to the editors (even got several published). i donated far more money than reasonable, and more time as well trying to bring an end to this madness.
i basically did everything involved, concerned citizens are supposed to do and yet still it turned out so wrong. it seems it was all for naught. now i'm actively pursuing jobs out of the metro area and i'm hoping to retire to Spain in another 5 to 10 years.
anyhow - that's me. your basic liberal who believes in equality for all, that violence never solves anything, that a war of choice is immoral, that when love is involved sex is beautiful regardless of the gender-mix of the couple.
eliminating poverty & hunger, and giving basic respect to one another even if we are different - these are the TRUE moral issues.

I don't know at what point one is no longer considered a newbie, but I assume it's under 1000 posts? I think I'm starting to learn the ropes around here, and I've been having a great time hanging out with ya'll!

I live in Fort Worth, Texas. I'm a wife and mother (12-year-old son). I graduated from Texas Christian University (TCU)with a BS in elementary education just two years ago. The TCU mascot is the Horned Frog, so that's where my user name comes from. I work part time from home as an on line tutor.

I've never been very politically active, but I was so stunned and disillusioned by this last election, I went looking for answers/like-minded people. That's how I discovered DU. Now I'm hooked!

I'm, uh ... Jessica. (Creative, I know.) I'm a ghost writer for our State Legislature and my job has pushed me into politics & stirred my interest in all things related. Actually, as much as I hate admitting it, I'm a recovering repuke & am the first Democrat in my family. But, to use my boyfriend's dad's metaphor - for years, I was a newborn beagle puppy - eyes closed. He raises beagles & when they're just babies, he says, "Oh - they're not really cute yet. They're still republicans."
