Got my 2004 bonus today

I'm going to put most of my bonus away and maybe pay off some bills, but I'm going to blow $500. What do you think I should spend it on? Keep in mind, I'm an atheist from an atheist family, so we don't do the holiday thing.

Besides, my hobbies are cooking and knitting- disgustingly practical.

I want to do something wild and stupid with the money, but all I can think of are practical things- like getting my car painted or donating to DU. When did I get so boring?

Back when I used to get them, during the Clinton era. Must be a coincidence that I haven't received a bonus since 2000.

10. Our bonuses were light this year

My boss knows I've been working very hard, averaging 60 hour weeks, so she made sure that my bonus was "fully funded" this year (meaning I got what I would have gotten if the company had done better).

We were told that we won't get a bonus this year. We're acquiring other companies and need the capital for that.

Oh, well...at least I have a job. I'm thankful for that.

How's this sound: Tents right on the beach, no electricity, noise, beach vendors or social directors, but great food and good people at $130/night

I've never been there myself, but many friends have used it to unwind, and they rave about it.

21. This will be my second year of watching everyone I work with

getting a bonus while I get nada. Two years of working as a contractor for the company while everyone else is an employee. No benefits, no vacation, no insurance, no bonus. Thanks, George, I really like your economy...

Take a portion of your money to blow and spend it on other people - it doesn't have to be even people you know. Spend the rest on yourself, you deserve it.

Bonuses....I remember those days....The "Bonus Process" here was so convoluted and had such the stench of fraud that the VP of IT had to issue a memo swearing that NONE of his "direct reports" got the bonuses...Funny how that was EXACTLY who I thought got them...

Get something special for yourself, because you earned it! :-)
