Former "Backstreet Boy" to make Christian Album
http://www.guardian.co.uk/usa/story/0,12271,1370656,00.html

"During the heyday of the Backstreet Boys, he danced his way into the hearts of millions of teenage girls across the world.
But yesterday Brian Littrell, put his crotch-grabbing days behind him, announcing he had signed for a Christian record label.

Littrell, 29, always regarded as the clean-cut member of the band is recording a single, In Christ Alone, that will appear on an upcoming WOW Christian Music compilation album next year. That will be followed by the debut of his solo album on Provident Music Group's Reunion Records."

I wonder how many "affairs" he has had in his past?

5. I'm ashamed to know this but.....in the interest of fairness...
I read an article on them back in their heyday. I think it was in Spin magazine so it tackled the subject with a snarkiness that was to be expected given that it was a pseudo hipster magazine covering a poppish boy band.

The point being that while it portrayed every other member of the band as self centered buffoons who could care less about their fans in their quest for chasing tail, the article actually portrayed this guy in a positive light. There was one portion of the article I remember where the rest of the band kind of blew past a fan in a wheelchair while he took the time to talk with her, pose for pics, and sign her stuff. He seemed to be kind of conflicted about the way the rest of the guys handled their fame. So who knows.

So while I sympathize with and share the urge to laugh, this guy may actually be sincere. Doesn't mean I like him or care, but still. In the interest of fairness.

10. Don't get me wrong....
I'm an atheist and I loathe boy bands. But I remember reading this article and being struck by just HOW big of a group of A-holes the guys in this band were. By comparison their depiction of him kind of stuck out. When a sarcastic faux hipster magazine is presenting you in a sympathetic light, there's probably something to it. So I'm sure the music will still suck and appeal to a very annoying crowd and have lyrics that I find nauseating. But if the guy is sincere then more power to him.

I don't think any person in history has had the indeliberate misfortune of inspiring so much Gawd- awful crap all in the name of commerce and worship. Hell must be the place where this drivel is piped in 24/7.

edit: whatever happen to Bach and Mozart's Passions, Beethoven Ode to Joy... I think those should suffice for praise from all Western Civilization (at least those wanting to praise :)).

13. Nothing like religion to make money
An ex-girlfriend semi-seriously suggested that we start our own church and use my knowledge of performance magic to draw in the suckers. I think she was kidding... She was good at fooling me and keeping a straight face.

14. Oh good grief. I'm more surprised that WOW would go into the xian market,
as they usually cater to the likes of teenage marry-a-minute dumbbell Britney Spears. :puke:

15. Whatever
Now he'll be doubly nauseating. Aren't you sick of all those attention-vampires who, the second their hype-derivated careers go deservedly down the toilet go running to Jay-sssssssssssus? I'm tired of selfish, silly, hateful, weak-willed people hijacking Jesus as spiritula and ego masturbation.
