or so I've been told. However, I can only ride in the heat (I'm such a wimp when it comes to the cold). I love to ride in the height of the afternoon, 90 degrees or higher and I'm in my stride. Every April to October I set a goal of 1500 kilometers to ride. This year I was lazy and only made it to 1223 km.
I know what you mean by the wind kicking your ass. During the summer I live along the coast of SC and the wind can really build up some speed coming in from the ocean. Owing to the road layout of this particular area, I am either riding into the wind, or with it at my back (reward for the other half of the ride).
I'll leave the cold to you guys up north. But, I do admire those of you who can handle the cold.

and a lot of peole don't know that milwaukee actually gets more wind on average than chicago does, despite the name...running about 20-30 mph today...
being born and raised here though, you get used to the cold

4. It's the same with the heat |

One gets used to it.
The average wind speed along the SC coast can average 20-30 mph, but sometimes it can be absolutely still, yet humid as a sauna. This is my favorite time to ride.
What kind of bike do you have? I have a Trek 830 mountain bike because when motorists run me off the road, I need those fat tires to keep from busting my ass in the sand which prevails along the coast.
