I believe in Unintelligent Design theory. |

The Universe was created by God; unfortunately, She's not very bright.

war, famine, disease and pestilence, George Bush twice, this is not the type of thing you look for on the resume of the supreme being.

for population control. The sex thing was a deal breaker. He can't take it back.

4. You would be speaking of Azathoth |

The Blind Idiot God of HP Lovecraft's mythos.
I suppose it's just as plausable as any other religious creation myth.

9. Actually, I wouldn't be speaking of Azathoth-- |
|
but mostly out of sheer ignorance. I haven't read Lovecraft in 40 years, and even back then only in small doses.

example: how intelligent was it to create sinuses that drain directly down the back of the throat. This was most definitely a design flaw.

6. Or merely VERY busy... after all there may be |
|
many millions of worlds to begin experiments with... and parallel universes to create.
The notion that there HAS to be intelligence in the creation is simply silly. I took a college course on "Theory of Adaptation in Natural and Artificial Systems"... and it is quite easy to create an environment (as a simulation) and release a population of Species into the environment and then simulate genetic mutation and run thousands and millions of trials with that population.
The results are complex well adapted (and sometimes highly adaptable) populations totally unlike the population which began the experiment.

14. Well, to come clean about it, I understood your point, but |
|
was actually playing around with and satirizing the POV you're trying to lump me with. I generally don't use sarcasm markers because they seem to insult the perspicacity of my audience, but there are apparently times when I misoverestimate people.

11. That's a Good Way of Putting It |
|
The universe doesn't look designed. It's an ungodly mess. The fact that it works is a testament to adaptation and natural balances that keep life from completely dying off.
I think that's the perfect comeback to someone who thinks the universe was designed because it just looks that way. Which is basically what Intelligent Design is.
