Star Jones tops PETA's worst-dressed list
The decision to wear a hirsute wrap to a red carpet event is a decision every celebrity must make for herself, but keep in mind it's one that could secure a place on People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals' annual Worst Dressed list, reports MSN.com.

This year, fur-loving newlywed Star Jones Reynolds' "appetite for animal destruction" has landed her in the top spot, a dishonor that gives her the dubious distinction of becoming the only big name to make PETA's naughty list four years running.

"With the number of dead animals she wore at her wedding, it looked more like a funeral," the group says.

In second place is Cindy Crawford, who has denied an affiliation with PETA despite appearing in an "I'd rather go naked than wear fur" ad a decade ago.

"With that big furry mole on her face, you'd think she'd be more sensitive to the plight of animals," the group says.

1. FK PETA I am never giving up my pets. They are a bunch of
Fanatics. Spineless fools. Do you bdelieve all animals should live in the wild or not at all? I do not. Our lives are richer for having domestic animals.

6. Huh?
Please cite where PETA wants to steal your pets, and what exactly makes them spineless fools.

Yeah, and we're in Iraq to liberate Iraqis, and the CBS documents were forged, and WMDs are all over Iraq, and Saddam had connections to Bin Laden. (Since we're making unfounded allegations here, I thought I'd have some fun).

Anchorage. This elephant lives in a concrete cave, has sores, no company and is lonely as hell. They do good work too.

5. yes they do
And they should focus their efforts LIKE what they're doing in Anchorage.
They shouldn't campaign telling college students to drink beer instead of milk.
BTW- what's that they said regarding pets? Do they not want people to have dogs/cats?

8. PETA didn't say anything about pets.
This is an oft-repeated rumor. They prefer to call the companion animals, but some black people prefer to be called African American. It's not that big a deal IMO.

PETA isn't without its black marks, by no means, but it's funny how threads like this always end up with such intelligent comments such as, "MMM yummy a steak" and "Huh huh people for the eating of tasty animals huh huh." The minute someone says the word "PETA" the collective age of the room seems to drop to somewhere near middle school.

12. Agree
I eat very little meat (no red meat, just some chicken or fish occasionally for a treat), but most of my friends are vegetarian. I dislike forcing any views down people's throats- which is partially why I am not at all found with PETA. IMO, PETA does more harm than good to the animal rights cause with their outrageous and harmful tactics. JM2C.

4. Here we go again.
It's funny how DUers love to jump down PETA's throat, despite all the good that they do.

And it's also funny how DUers love to provoke DUers who don't eat meat by posting bullshit like that.

You eat meat? Fine. Why do you feel the need to antagonize those who don't?

14. If only some DUers would do some research
before making suggestions such as this. They do PLENTY to help animals (talk to my brother, he used to work for them before he got tired of the more extreme elements). As far as "badgering" people, I don't like some of their techniques, but that's their issue: convincing people not to eat meat.

For instance:

I really get tired of the peace activists badgering us to not to illegally invade other countries.

I really get tired of death penalty opponents badgering us not to execute people.

I really get tired of John Kerry badgering us to vote for him as opposed to G W.

See what I'm getting at here?

11. Thanks for speaking up.
I do not deliberately antagonize all religious people, for example, when I attack rightwing fundies. I recognize that there are moderates and then there are extremists. And while some of PETA's beliefs and actions certainly can be considered extremist, it is gratuitous to mock people who just happen to believe in compassion towards animals.

she signed on to pose in pelts for furrier Blackglama's "What Becomes a Legend Most" campaign.

It's in the article.

Here's more RUDE BITCHY ASSHOLE-NESS coming from PETA:

Rounding out the list are Jennifer Lopez, who is hit with the dreaded simile,"The lives of the animals she wears are like her relationships: short and painful"; Susan Lucci ("Her hideous furs make Emmy's biggest loser one of animals' worst abusers"); and freshman Ashley Olsen, who is scolded, "Here's a tip on adjusting to life at New York University: The Big Apple is not the Yukon - you don't need to look like Bigfoot in order to fit in."

That's animal skin. Please explain to me where I'm going wrong here.

Your list of "asshole-ness" is not that convincing. I would hope that these people would be more thick-skinned if they're that comfortable wearing a dead animal.

Maybe I should walk around in the skin of dead babies! Then I can complain how people are mean to me when they say something about it.

33. Here's the thing: I'm a mom and a pet owner. If my son was in pain,
went to a doctor and was found to be seriously ill and it would take $15,000, and a lifetime of expensive medicine to fix it, I'd sell my soul for his life. If my dog, whom I love and care deeply for was in pain, went to a doctor and was found to be seriously ill and it would take $15,000 and a lifetime of expensive medicine to fix it, in my present financial situation I'd have to put her down. I'd love to say otherwise, but I cannot. There's your illustration. Call me what you wish, but most would do the same.

42. A three year old dog
Is the equivalent of an adult human being. That's not the same as leaving a 6-year-old home alone.

It's funny how people who eat meat and don't value animals (yet value humans over them for some reason that THEY CAN'T EXPLAIN FOR THE LIFE OF THEM) get so worked up over a topic enough to make uneducated, ignorant comments about a group that does a lot of good.

"PETA sure could use you."

And so the personal attacks begin. Well here's one: fuck you. I gave you and Placebo every chance possible to try to defend your beliefs (and believe it or not, I came to it with an open mind, but you guys chose not to play) and you pussied out.

So mods, feel free to delete this post. But I tried before I resorted to this. You guys just go back to your little meat-eating circle jerk and don't think about all the things you kill everyday. I hope you can sleep at night.

newborn. Sorry, no pass. I sleep very well at night, thanks for your concern. I've got a freezer full of deer meat and a guilt free mind. One, there is one less deer to starve this winter, and two, my kids will be well fed. Note the lack of personal attack. You see things much differently than I. In a perfect world, we would all be able to place our pets on the same level of financial need as our children...but we don't. My son will contribute far more to humanity than my pets, as much as I love them. Have a wonderful week.

47. Here you go.
Coats can be made from synthetic materials.

Most fur coats are made from animals held in horrible conditions, and are usually killed in incredibly inhumane ways.

I don't buy the "God didn't give animals souls" argument, I have two cats whom I love dearly, I would never eat them or make coats out of them, therefore what is the difference between that and making a coat out of another animal?

There's my moral reasoning.
