I asked Al Gore a question today!
Edited on Mon Dec-13-04 10:08 PM by barackmyworld
He came to Harvard to talk about climate change. He was HILARIOUS! People were laughing during his whole power point presentation. Just relentless making fun of the GOP. I rushed down to the mic for the Q+A, and I got to ask a question about cap and trade for emissions reduction. Here is a blurry pic:

He has put on some weight too!

1. You had the chance to ask Al Gore any question in the world
And you DIDN'T ASK ABOUT ELECTIONS FRAUD???????

Sigh. Well, good for you. At least we know what he's up to nowadays.

And making fun of the GOP, really what more can one person ask for?

4. Al Gore is hilarious
I have heard him speak several times and he is an excellent, very funny speaker.

Last time I heard him, he was talking about Al Gore jokes. He told several and then he said he had a standard response every time he heard a new Al Gore joke: "Now, Tipper"

And you know I agree with the previous poster who chided you for not asking him about election fraud.

5. one funny joke I can remember..
Edited on Mon Dec-13-04 10:22 PM by barackmyworld
in his powerpoint, he showed a map of florida half covered in water, what it would be if the water level rose 6 feet. One of the other panelists accused him of showing it because he is bitter, and Al said "I would never say anything bad about florida. I carried that state!"

oh also, a student asked what we should call people who deny global warming, like science-deniers, flat-earth people, etc, and he said "Republicans." The super-liberal audience went insane.

12. That's awesome. Good to know that he is aware of this.
I'm constantly amazed at how many Democrats believe the MSM CW on this one.

7. I wonder why he wasn't funny during the 2000 campaign?
It might have got through to ostriches like me. (I had my head in the sand at the time.)

8. He was pretty funny sometimes in 2000
I remember going to a few of his speeches and thinking to myself, this isn't the same guy that is portrayed on the news.

So yeah, he has a pretty good sense of humor, but the media never showed that side of him, just the "Al Bore" stereotype.

10. That must be it
because I ask that same question about his wooden demeanor during the 2000 race. I've been calling what I viewed as his 'new' persona, Mad Al, thinking he'd changed. Son of a gun. ;(

15. And the media resurrected that story for Kerry.
He was also portrayed as stiff and aloof, and his Vietnam service was treated the same way Gore's was (trivialized). While Kerry does seem to me to be more reserved than Gore, he is certainly no bore and showed a lot of warmth on the campaign trail. It's the old lie, perpetrated by the "independent" media at the Republican Party's behest.

13. To be fair
He didn't use the debates to dispel it. I think Kerry made the most of the debates to dispel the media portrayal going on. Gore actually did re-inforce some of the stuff they were talking about, but their treatment was still unfair, and they carried Dubya around on a pillow the whole campaign.

He seemed stiff as a candidate; but really funny when he finally loosened up on Saturday Night live after the 2000 election.
