Poll question: Red Sox or Cubbies - who will win a World Series in our lifetime? |
|
Chicago Cubs haven't won a World Series since 1908.
Boston Red Sox haven't won a World Series since 1918
Will the Earth stop rotating to allow one of these teams to win a World Series??

I say not in my lifetime. The Bill Buckner error in 1986 is proof positive that these teams do not have the karma needed to win a World Series!!!

3. Bill Buckner lost them the World Series? |
|
First of all the game was tied when that moment occured, second of all a team needs to win 4 games to be crowned champions, not 3. The Diamondbacks blew a two run lead late in game six but managed to win game 7. They should've of just moved on instead of dwelled on it much like the D'backs. They forgot about it and went on to win game 7 at home.

6. 1986 was Red Sox and NY Mets |
|
And some say that was the play that turned things around for the Mets (who were behind 3 games to 2).
I don't think there was a team in Arizona back in 1986

7. Why does the fact the Diamondbacks weren't a team in '86 |
|
have to with anything. The Diamondbacks blew late inning leads in not 1 but 2 games and still managed to keep their composure to go out and win Game 7. Something the Red Sox should of done, I could've understand the dwelling of the Bill Buckner error if the Red Sox where up by 1 with two outs, but no the game was tied. If he would of made the out there is no telling how the game would've ended, the Red Sox shouldn't of blown a three run lead in game 7.

9. You post sounded like the Sox were playing the Diamondbacks |
|
Didn't realize you were talking about a separate series there.

11. I just re-read my post |
|
and I don't see how I made it seem like I was talking about the same game. I don't recall the Diamondbacks blowing a two run lead in game six against the red sox. :)

4. Red Sox are almost always in the playoffs... |
|
They're far more likely to break through eventually...

It is their time. I live less than 4 miles from Wrigley Field, and have blown good karma their way all playing season. It has certainly had an impact, LOL.

10. Can you blow some of that karma towards Philly please |
|
I think my beloved but hurting Eagles could use it this year and I may not have enough karma in me to make the difference
Thanks hun!

Please don't send any of that toward Philly. Need the Phillies to drop in the wild card race in case the Cubs don't win the division. ;)
After baseball season is over in Philly, THEN send karma that way. Heh.

14. I don't care as long as they don't play each other. |
|
Can you imagine the fawning media coverage THAT would generate? :puke:
Of course, if they ever did play each other in a World Series, there would be some apocalyptic event ensuring that neither would win. ;-)

16. Expert: Babe Ruth Curse a "Total Myth" |

Idea that Boston Red Sox can't win a championship because they traded away legendary slugger 83 years ago is “pure hogwash,” says Bill Buckner. http://www.ironictimes.com/0158-p3.html
