What the BLOODY HELL did I do to my ANKLE?! |
|
I suppose it's a blessing that it doesn't hurt unless I put weight on it. But when I try to walk -- HAH! I can't walk. AAAAAAHHHHHHHH!!

5. get thee to a physical therapist! |
|
I've had severe problems with knees and, based on great results from physical therapy for whiplash injury to my back from an auto accident, INSISTED that my orthopod give me a prescription for physical therapy treatement. (The doctor had given me some Mickey Mouse stick figure diagrams on exercises, which I had tried without much result.) The physical therapists diagnosed the undelying cause - which the surgeon never mentioned - my kneecaps had moved out of position, creating all kinds of problems. With three months of non-surgical treatment, the alignment was corrected and my problems disappeared.
Other people swear by chiropractors. Clearly, your surgeon hasn't fixed the problem, so go for some alternative approaches.

3. May have pulled a ligament ? |
|
However, the ticket for me when I've experienced two severe sprains is to do "whirlpool therapy." 15 minutes in, 15 minutes out at least two to three cycles per day - for a week or longer.
Well, AFTER ice on and off for the first 24 hours that is (to lessen swelling if really tweaked) ... then go for the heat in the whirlpool. Important not to stay in longer than 15 minutes at a shot if you really wish to speed the healing process.

I know it's not sprained. There's no swelling and no pain except when I try to stand or walk.
