Having dealt with depression most of my life it would be kinda nice to know that there really are people out there who are happy.
Are you happy? Just say yes - it would make ME happy! LOL

4. I'm neither happy nor sad most of the time. |
|
When I'm playing with my kids, I'm happy.
Maybe 5% of the day, I'm anxious or annoyed - seldom really depressed or sad.
But thoughts of mortality do make me sad if I dwell on them, so I don't - nothing we can really do about THAT, you know.

I'm not unhappy most of the time. My mood is usually pretty good, I tend to think positively and believe the future holds mostly good things. But there are many things I am very concerned about and want very much to change. There are somethings about my current existance that are near intolerable. If you ask me about those things, you might find I'm mostly unhappy (and given the right day, I might agree with you).

Things are ok. could be better. Not really 'happy', but good enough I guess. I struggled with depression for many years, but with therapy etc, I'm much better! Once Bush is out of office, I'll be happy though!

11. Here's something to cheer you up |

I've suffered from Depression all my life (I'm 44). I was so crushed by the weight of it that I could not really say that I believed in "happy". The best I could do was to say that once in a while I was not UNhappy.
Six years ago, I got in my car and drove from Vermont to California. At the time, I was taking so many pills (mood stabilizers, anti depressants, tranquilizers) that I referred to them as my "fruit salad" and kept them in color coded bottles.
Halfway across the country, I began to feel good. By the time I reached the Continental Divide, I'd stopped taking all of them. By the time I got to California, I was HAPPY!
Since then, I have not taken a single psych pill. I've had gray days but never like before. I think a big part of it is the knowledge that there really IS such a thing as happy. I have no explanation of how or why this happened. I do not really believe in a god but cannot help but think of it as a miracle.
Yes, I'm happy. And I hope someday you discover happy too. It really does exist and not just for those "other people".

Like most people I would say that I am content (French for happy actually) I have the beautiful and caring wife, the wonderful kids, the house and enough of a career not to worry about money so much (but I do). Being truly happy is like being deadly depressed, it's debilitating. I'm not saying that in bad way but one cannot constantly be happy unless one is under 10. For me being happy is when in some way I revert to the pre 10 year-old in me. When I do something very silly with my kids, or make a really idiotic joke to my wife or when I talk for hours with friends about things that truly don't matter like music, films, comic book or even girls and boys. I hope that depression is not the refusal to find happiness but the inability to revert to that child in all of us. I think that if one does not suffer from clinical depression and is just feeling down, one of the best ways to feel better must be to put on rubber boots and jump in puddles or make a snow man since it's the holiday season. I hope that those who are suffering from depression don't see this as being a simplistic and insulting post, that would make me most unhappy.

Do you like where you live? Could a new place or a change in diet help. My sweet and loving Papa went through about a 12 yr depression. He tried the drugs too, and therapy. It' was not until he went back to the West to AZ that it eased (He had moved to Massachusetts). He says he needed the sunshine and the chili. My father (A doctor) told him to watch what he ate and keep a log of reactions in moods if any. He staid away from certain caned foods and he did MUCH better. We all have off days but he had a lot more good days that bad after the mood (He too got off the drugs).

You can move back home soon. Sometimes I thinks some people are just engineered for a certain climate. Me I love my desert, I was not the same person in wet Waco.

despite events recently. I've had a cast on my left arm since early Sept. The doctor who treated me removed a bone I actually needed (doh) and now I may not be able to have rotation in my wrist. There's nerve damage now after 3 surgeries, but with that said, I have a great husband and two beautiful girls and a job that's stable and I can't complain. My heart goes out to you Princess, never having felt the depth of depression. I wish you good luck and my thoughts are with you. But having read the post one or two above mine, YOU HAD TO SMILE. How sweet was that???????? (group awwwww) :loveya: Take care.

I'm insecure, fearful, and anxious most of the time. Or maybe that's just how I feel at the moment. Yet I have nothing to really be anxious or unhappy about. Lately, I've really been trying to untangle the giant knot my well-being is.

Despite having a bad temper, a daughter in Afghanistan and a husband with Multiple Sclerosis. I go by the "I don't have bad days, I have bad moments" philosophy. Life just trips me out. So many things fascinate me, and to quote a song, I'm easily amused. When I'm bored or sad, I read about things like bubble universes. Just a little strange, I guess.
