Ed Asner. Great actor. Great Progressive.

Ed Asner is one of U.S. television's most acclaimed and most controversial actors. Through the miracle of the spin-off, Asner became the only actor to win Emmy awards for playing the same character in both a comedy and dramatic series. A former president of the Screen Actors Guild (SAG), Asner's mix of politics and acting have not always set well with network executives, corporate sponsors, or the viewing public.

SNIP

Through Lou Grant, Asner's own popularity was growing, leading to appearances in the 1980 film Fort Apache, The Bronx and the 1981 TV movie A Small Killing. This level of success was soon to crumble, however, when Asner took part in a fund raiser to send medical aid to El Salvador rebels who were fighting against the Reagan-supported regime.

Iloved him in JFK, too.

5. Great actor, but I hope he's not a 'progressive'
The meaning of that word has already been wrecked by people who want to fight battles from the 1930's instead of getting on with the 21st century.

Talk about re-framing...that totally reversed meaning takes the cake!

7. Labor rights are not an issue "from the 1930's"
Leave it to Maple to throw in a totally inappropriate quasi-RW quasi-comment.

6.  Ed is the man !
Ed,Martin Sheen,Blase & Terresa Bonpane and many more know the police well from thier constant work for justice.
Ed Asner also kicked the shit out of everyone on celebrity poker, which was kind of funny ,since know one seemed to know who they were dealing with.
