1. My co-worker was born and raised there - if you don't get
any responses, I'll ask her tomorrow and send you a pm.

2. Been there. It's very expensive.
Everything has to be imported.

Do you have employment there?

5. Cool. I was only there briefly, but I remember food was very pricey
Some of the folks I was doing work with lived there. There's something very expensive about phone calls (can't remember if it's calling to or from). They used a dial around service. May be worth checking out.

They all seemed to enjoy it, but were ready to leave after a few years. It's a bit claustrophobic, I imagine.

7. I lived on the Outer Banks of NC and got claustrophobia!!!
And I thought it resembled what the world might look like about 100 years after a nuclear holocaust! Bunch of sand and scrubby trees and only one long single lane (each way) out. That was many years ago, but I can imagine living on a small island could be VERY claustrophobic!

8. One major hurricane and the Outer Banks may be an island
I was there in the winter. Nothing open. It was like a ghost town.
