1. yep... is it arthroscopic ? |
|
if so, it was a piece of cake for me. Did you tear the meniscus?
Good luck.. you 'll be ok.

6. Yes arthroscopic on both knees |
|
and my doctor is saying it could be that as well a couple of other things:( It's outpatient and he said it shouldn't take but an hour, but still pretty nervous.

|
you will feel sooo much better after it is all worth it. I had immediate relief.
It is a bit scary but they've really got it all wired and down to the science. in 24 hours you will much better and it will be behind you.
good Luck.. let us know how it went!

Haven't had it done, but it's really a pretty routine operation at this point...hang in there.

3. I've had knee surgery, but it wasn't that type. |
|
They actually slit my whole knee open, sewed my patellar tendon back together, cleaned out the joint, and then closed up the skin. I used a straight brace for a while, then a brace with a joint that let me gradually increase the angle at which my knee was allowed to bend.
I wouldn't get too nervous about it---people have knee surgery all the time. Physical therapy helps a lot. When I first started, I couldn't even bend my knee, but by the time I was done, I felt almost back to normal.
Good luck. :)

4. My husband has had several surgeries and... |
|
...a close friend recently had her knee replaced. I also had a friend with arthroscopic knee surgery several years back. He was back at work the next day and had to watch himself to not overdue it for a couple of weeks. Not a huge deal.
Knee replacement is more serious, but if you needed that you'd already know it.
So far I've been lucky with my knees. My husband has played judo for decades and has had old sports injuries from it.
Good luck! Knee medicine is amazingly advanced compared to what it was not all that many years ago. With minimally invasive techniques, recovery can be very fast.

I have a torn meniscus, a fractured tibia plateau, and misaligned knee cap. All this info was gleamed from 2 x-rays and a MRI--NO surgery at all...none of my damage warranted surgery, TG.
I'm wearing a brace, taking a little pain meds, and staying off of it. My injury occurred about a month ago...I was in terrible pain and couldn't walk; since then, I've made tremendous progress recovering.
Good luck to you!
