Everyone Wish Althea Well

She's in being spayed today. I hope my poor little girl isn't in too much pain afterwards. She was mad at me this morning when I put her in the carrier

1. Look at her eyes. She knows her goodies are being taken away.

If you were going to be spayed, how much pain would you feel afterwards? :D

2. Well, that's an older picture, so the look in here eyes isn't related
but I think she'll be okay. She's a super-loving little thing, and as long as I'm around to be here pillow tonight, she'll be fine :)

18. I don't think so :)
She wouldn't have been so friendly in the ensuing months if that were the case.

21. Hehehe, that red rug you see her on in that pic
isn't in as good shape now as it was when the pic was taken. She and Quinn aren't happy unless there are tufts of red yarn loose on top of the rug :)

And don't worry - the fur on your belly will grow back. :loveya:

12. Thanks Jessica!
I think she's indifferent to the fur on her belly, as long as she still gets belly rubs (after the incisions heal of course) :)

4. She will hate you for a good three minutes.
My cat was insane with rage when we picked him up from the vet after being fixed.

5. Quinn was funny when I picked him up.
He glared at the vet's assistant, hissed at her when she put him down, and purred as soon as I picked him up :)

I think after that, he associated me with rescuing from those people with the sharp pointy things :)

7. She's a super cuddly lap kitty.
I don't care if the vet removes her ability to reproduce, as long as he leaves her purr-motor in :) :) :)

instantly. Don't worry.

10. She'll be home tonight, not tomorrow.
The lady I adopted her from made all the arrangements, and had to take her in as part of a group (can you believe the poor rescue lady still has most of Altheas brothers and sisters?). So I'll be picking her up tonight after work.

.
My little girl meowed at me for a couple of minutes when I picked her up at the vet's after she was spayed. After that, she was just fine! She just wanted to register her indignation about the whole ordeal.

She's 11 years old now, and she was spayed right before her 1st birthday:

15. She looks purty and healthy :)
I'm sure she'll be fine, I just feel guilty whenever I have to leave my buddies in an unfamiliar place.

20. She'll be fine in no time
I've only had one female cat before, but as I recall, it didn't seem to bother her too long. She will probably be quiet and want to sleep a lot when she gets home. Best wishes for this beautiful little cat!

23. All will be well
Animals seem to bounce back from surgeries with amazing abilities we humans don't possess. Lots of love and perhaps some new catnip treats will help the healing process.

24. Don't be too surprised if you have an evening of her acting nutty.
The last one we had done (we have four, three females, all of whom we spayed; our boy came to us with his suitcases empty from the shelter) acted like she was possessed all evening -- she hissed at all the other animals, bit my husband, screeched at me every time I tried to pet her. We finally took her upstairs and put her in a quiet room in the carrier for about three hours. She'd been really affectionate before (though never a lap cat), so we hoped it was just the drugs.

It was. After three hours in a dark, quiet room napping, when we went up to visit with her before bed she was back to normal. We suspected it was the anesthetic -- she really acted like she didn't have any idea who we were, or where she was, or anything else for a couple of hours.

The other two didn't act like that, but I guess anything is possible with cats!

26. I don't think she'll screech, she can hardly meow
she's got such a quiet little voice :)

I'll just let her sleep on the couch beside me for a few hours :)

27. just make sure you give her the pain meds as a lot of times people
confuse them acting "crazy" when they run around and act strange...but that is how they are exhibiting pain (just like we may shake our hand if we slam on fingers on something). Much love to your little girl
