Poll question: Favorite kind of mindless action movie!
Edited on Wed Dec-15-04 12:15 PM by janesez
**NOTE** If you don't like mindless action movies, what the heck are you doing in this thread? Please refrain from lecturing us all about how we are watching crap movies. We're well aware of that. We love them anyway. Go away.

Now then! What's your favorite action flick for pure escapism and lots of blowing shit up/killing zombies/whatever?

1. "Good Dog"! Dog from outer space tries to energize Earth's pooches
and make them take control of the planet, as the Greater Dane ordained!

4. Actually pretty cute and funny
Love the part where the boy tries spinning around 3 times before going to sleep to create a bad dream barrier as per the dog's recommendation, and the dog snickers..."Can't beleive you fell for that."

5. Porn.
Action doesn't get any more mindless than two Hollywood also-rans with self esteem issues doin' the grownup.

6. The problem with most of these movies...
Is that the action stars are Republicans. I'll leave the content criticism to the critics, but I refuse to donate money to the GOP by proxy, which is what we do when seeing Arnold, Bruce Willis, Seagal, etc.

9. Jackie Chan & Jet Li
A few of the their movies don't make any sense at all, but damn do those fight scenes look bad ass!

Chan could kick the living shit out of Segal in 1.7 seconds or less.

And Li would probably go Mortal Kombat on his ass.

14. RE chan comment
I've said for years that jackie chan would win against most of these american martial arts bozos (chuck norris, van damme, etc). My husband and I would argue about a warehouse fight where you could use anything at your disposal and fight to the death. Jackie Chan would so win.

10. "The Core" was ridiculously silly. But I kind of liked it.
It was so idiotically implausible that I kind of enjoyed it.

Plus, seeing Oscar winner Hillary Swank doing crappy movies like this...how can you not enjoy something like that? :-)

12. How about mindful action movies?
'Death Becomes Her' has a lot of action and even a smidgen of thought behind it. :D

Otherwise, the more brainy Bond films plus your occasional Bruce Willis film are for me.

15. Other: Science Fiction
"The 5th Element" for example. Mindless, fun, action packed. Yah, yah, it's got Bruce Willis basically doing a Die Hard in space routine, but the darn movie was fun anyway.
