Are there certain albums that are owned by everyone you know?
In my college days, back when dinosaurs ruled the earth, it was pretty much a given that the record library of everyone I knew contained two LPs in common: "Abandoned Luncheonette" by Hall and Oates, and "Second Contribution" by Shawn Phillips.

In more recent years, I think everyone I know owns "Remain In Light" by Talking Heads.

Anyone else? Are there albums that you can guarantee are on the shelf of everybody you know?

4. In high school it was Miles Davis' Bitches Brew and Eric Clapton's Layla
Also, you just HAD to have a book by Kurt Vonnegut or Herman Hesse under your arm--otherwise you were subject to arrest!

College was no better--The Grateful Dead and the Allman brothers wafted from the dorm windows 24-7!

6. I love _Abandoned Luncheonette_
It's one of my favorite albums ever; I didn't figure it was that common, but I wasn't around in the seventies either...

When I was in high school there were a few that all of my best friends had.

Rubberneck by the Toadies
Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness by the Smashing Pumpkins
Ten and vs. by Pearl Jam
The Downward Spiral by Nine Inch Nails
oh yeah, and there was some album by this group Oleander that I don't remember the title of that they pretty much all had. I had the Smashing Pumpkins and Pearl Jam ones but not the others.
