Hey everyone,

Just wanted to introduce myself...name is Alex, long time lurker, hoping to post more now that I'm out of the exam season. I'm a senior at Yale University, where we hang our heads in shame every day that we unleashed Shrub upon this unprepared world. I accept no responsibility personally of course :-). Anyways, Hello to everyone, and I hope to be a more regular presence on these boards. Use this thread to introduce yourselves to me if you so like...I'll also field questions about anything at all...unlike a certain office holding dimwit. TTFN...ta ta for now.

One of the deans for admissions for Yale came and spoke to my son's class two years ago for a seminar for the junior class on college admissions. At the question and answer period, some one mentioned that Bush had applied to this school (St. John's School in Houston) and had been rejected and asked the Yale dean if she knew this fact.

The dean mentioned that yes she had hear about Bush being rejected and then made a strange comment about Yale not giving as much weight to legacies now as in Bush time. My son and I took this to be a subtle slap at Bush by Yale.

Those cats are the cutuest thing EVER! Thanks so much to you and everyone else for the nice greetings...interestingly enough, I do not have any cats myself (though I hope to someday) but my name comes from my deep love of Blues Traveler, who, for anyone who doesn't know them, use a black cat as their logo. Since I'm on the subject, if anyone here is into BT, contact me immediately, and we can chat for days! Thanks again to everyone who said hello, I'll be seeing more of everyone I'm sure :-)

15. No Societys for me

Hehe, I was not cool enough for the Bones or any Yale secret society...all I so is call sporting events for campus radio...study as hard as I can (though maybe not as hard as I should), and worry about finding a job for next year. I had a friend who almost got tabbed for society...though I don't think it was Skull and Bones. I'd have never joined any of those groups....a bit too shady for someone like me, who is all about freedom of information.

I work in New Haven and live nearby, well actually like 10 minutes away.

My sister went to the Yale School of Divinity to get her master's. She graduated this past May.

Actually, I am now living in New Haven for school, and my family is just 20 mins away in Wallingford, CT. Nevertheless, I grew up in NYC (Staten Island), and still have great love for the city...and hope to maybe go back one day. My application to Columbia Journalism School actually went out yesterday, so cross your fingers for me. Long live the "liberal" (i.e. not flagrantly conservative) media!
