Was I offensive to someone?

I started a thread and asked if Randi Rhodes was black. It's an honest question.

she often says she's black, but I guess it's some sort of old joke. She's quite white.

And I can understand why you'd ask that question. After all, Randi has been saying (albeit jokingly) for several months now that she's a black woman. In actuality, though, she's a nice(?) Jewish girl from Canarsie.

No one knows why she says it, I would like to get the joke. Also, I asked if I was offensive to someone because I posted it in GD, went home and logged back on and it disappeared.

18. This whole "I'm a black woman" thing began at the Democratic Convention.

During her time in Boston last summer, Randi befriended several members of the Congressional Black Caucus and concluded that they were the most courageous Democrats in Congress. As such, Randi decided (again, in a good-naturedly joking way) to identify herself with the CBC by calling herself a black woman. Personally, I think it's kinda cool!

last week. She mentioned that she was a black woman, and I could have sworn that I saw her picture before and she was white. But, then, I forgot about it until this post. Now I know why she was saying it.

So, you weren't the only one who was confused!

14. She's actually said she was black on several occasions on her show

She's not, but she started saying it after a black woman called her and said "You're one of us" and it kind of stuck. At least that's the way I remember it.
