I think the "West Wing" is setting us up for a GOP takeover after Bartlett |
President Bartlett's MS is worsening, the Administration is showing second term signs of wear and tear and the two front running Democratic candidates are bums: "Bingo" Bob Russell and disgraced ex-VP John Hoynes (a DLC weenie).
The "West Wing" creators have always been accused of being out of touch with the country. They might think that having a Republican win the upcoming presidential election (and finale of the show) would be a way to show how they are really "in touch" with America.

6. Yes. Bad enough that we have to LIVE this reality, much less watch |
it on TV in our spare time, too!

7. Well, I don't get TV reception so this is just |
from a marketing point of view. The producers (assuming they are the standard greedy bastard producers that are normally rampant in TVland) would be remiss if they didn't change the political focus once in a while to rake in the "other" dollars--whatever "other" represents at the time.

8. Actually, I think it'd be cool. You could make the show an |
institution, showing campaigns every 4 years (of show time), showing the transition, showing how each staff works. It'd be kind of cool. You could switch producers and writers with each administration.
