What about debate?
Edited on Thu Dec-16-04 03:36 AM by vetwife
Do you think Skinner will ever let people from the right debate on this forum? I think we need to exchange some ideas and get this country on the right track before we do as Rome and fall. This divided nation cannot stand much longer. You all know me. I mean do you think as long as people are civil that we should as Joan Rivers says, " Can we Talk"?
There is extreme left and extreme right surely there is a compromise somewhere for people to work together on dissent !

We have people who lurk here and maybe our posts would not be hung out in space if we talked to each other. Is that where all the anger is coming from on both sides?

1. that would be cool
but it better be not be in General Discussion, those people eat republicans for breakfast over there. The only way for it to work would be for Skinner to limit the thread to say 4 people for each side and let just those 8 duke it out.

2. I am tired of of all of this fighting ! I am sick of it !
I don't care if one is a dem, a green, a libeterian or a repub, the truth is, we are going to have to get this We the People back on track ! I am sick of them screenshooting, us screen shooting, and then hurting people. I tell you we are all Americans and somebody has to say Look I will listen to you and you listen tome and lets do it with respect and forget the hate. Life is too short and I didn't say we had to kiss each other's behind but we need to find some common ground to get the country moving ! Dang......its getting old !

3. Amen, couldn't have been said any better!
I disagree with republicans as much as anyone here, but it is still crucial that we at least open the door for debate and discussion.

4. The country , the people the whole thing has got to change !
Edited on Thu Dec-16-04 04:04 AM by vetwife
Think about this...we have not accomplished anything but debt
in the last two congresses. There was enough pork to go around in that last ominibus bill to eat porkchops for twenty years. On both sides..Dems and repubs ! What about We the people? What happened to compormise? What happened to just reporting and all this I gotcha stuff ! I am sick of it. When Cheri was murdered (my son's girlfriend) I thought Dang life is too short for all of this fighting !
I want my country back. After that impeachment mess, then the 2000 election, then 2002, and 2004, we are going backwards. How are we ever gonna mend fences internationally when we can't mend fences in our own backyard !

6. I've had debates with Republicans.
Edited on Thu Dec-16-04 04:16 AM by elperromagico
They were intelligent, articulate, and expressed their points well. I can't say any ground was gained or lost either way, but at least we understood each other and appreciated each other's opinions a little more.

I must admit, I find it heartening to have those debates. It's good to see there is intelligence on the other side of the fence.

But here's the problem. Most of the Republicans/conservatives who seem to want to open a debate here are not intelligent, articulate, or capable of expressing their points well. They are more interested in parroting talking points they heard from Rush, Hannity, or whatever other schmuck happens to be the favorite of the moment.

Some of them don't even seem capable of that.

Now, it is all well and good to have a debate with someone who has an argument. But it is an altogether different matter to open a debate with someone whose best comebacks are "What about Clinton and Monica?" and "You're all going to hell."
