Last night I drank a cocktail with Stilton cheese in it......it cost $19 |
|
It was an S&M Martini made with the finest gin and vintage port (plus some other things that I forget), garnished with a dried apricot that had been stuffed with a small piece of Stilton cheese.
Oddly enough, it was very pleasant (if a bit strong).
Favourite cocktail of the evening? That would have to be the Dr Strangelove, which consisted of Calvados (apple brandy), pear liqueur and champagne.......absolutely fantastic.
The venue? Lounge Lover in London, described in a review as, "the dopest cat in the pimp house, this sucker is one fo' yo ladies. the decor? llewelyn-bowen meets david copperfield in 80's marrakesh. inspired."
How right they are.......but at £9 - £10 per cocktail, thank the Lord that somebody else was paying......

Haven't been to London in a few years, I tend to haunt the Queensway or Bayswater area. Cheers

And I buy it at least once a month. It's amazing with fresh pear slices. The moldier and cruddier looking - the better.
I also have a can of "gourmet" soup that's made with port and Stilton cheese. Haven't tried it yet. I'll have to be in the mood for it.

5. Stilton is a blue cheese - there are many different types of blue... |
|
Any cheese with blue veins of mould running through it is a blue cheese (I believe).

3. It sounds intriguing... |

though I tend to prefer my Bleu cheese crumbled over a salad or tucked into a grilled burger. I am glad you did not have to pay for it!

6. Ooh, I love Stilton - that sounds delicious! |
|
Not crazy about martinis, but I'd sure be willing to try one of those!
My BH and I usually always choose the cheeseboard in lieu of a dessert. It's like an extra bonus on top of a good meal - another glass of wine, good cheese, homemade biscuits, maybe a chutney.. <drool>
