Are there more good people in the world than bad people?
I sometimes wonder. Sometimes, I feel like I'm turning into a misanthrope. I don't want to have a cynical view of the human race...but I'm afraid I'm evolving toward that view.

3. I think so, but I also think that evil migrates towards power. (nt)

4. It only takes a few million to ruin the lives of 6,000,000,000+ people
Only a small number of people lord their wealth over the great majority of the world. Only a small amount of people are the ones that decide wars and decide to exploit people for profit, but it is their decisions that affect the great masses and create human drama. Things such as hatred and prejudice because of skin color, origin, religion, etc. are bigger problems regardless of one's wealth or power, but on the whole, I don't believe most people are afflicted with that to such an extent. I still see most people as wanting to live out their lives in peace.

6. Bad People Definitely Outnumber Good People!!
Edited on Thu Dec-16-04 09:15 AM by arwalden
Sometimes I get the feeling that I'm starting to view humanity the same way that Albert Finney does in Scrooge.

People are despicable creatures
Loathesome inexplicable creatures
Good-for-nothing kickable creatures
I hate people! I abhor them!
When I see the indolent classes
Sitting on their indolent asses
Gulping ale from indolent glasses
I hate people! I detest them! I deplore them!

Life is full of cretinous wretches
Earning what their sweatiness fetches
Empty minds whose pettiness stretches
Further than I can see
Little wonder I hate people
And I don't care if they hate me!

7. So many things have been done in the name of 'good' it it hard to say.
I think every 'bad' thing we call bad has been done in the name of 'good'. I find it all hard to understand.

8. The good people are bad for not stoping the bad people.

Or in the case of the DLC, as had the Republican party a long time ago, teaming up with them. (Sorry, I'm not yet over the DLC's grand admission they don't need people like Michael Moore to help speak for them. I didn't know the DLC had votes they never really cared for. Oh well. You can bet fewer people will vote Dem next time. Technically, I'm still in a wait-and-see mode, though I've made a few numerous knee-jerk posts saying that voting isn't worth it or that a new 3rd party would be a vastly superior solution. Indeed, to add something new, as the Dems pull the same games as the Repubs regarding appointing people over how much they donated versus their actual ability (Was Shirley Temple really that good of an ambassador, for example?), I'm pretty much a cynic with "mainstream politics" - which is ironically far removed from the mainstream in terms of what "mainstream politicians" do.

9. We have to believe that there are, or it wouldn't be worth it. I really
try to give people the benefit of the doubt even though their behavior often scares me. The best example of "bad" people I can think of is when the supposedly "good" people exiting mass run to their cars on Sunday in the hopes of screwing each other out of the ability to be the first to leave. It's amazing to watch these "Christian" people behave like barbarians.

10. there are far more good people than bad
but the bad people just get better press. For every George Bushes in the world there are two Jimmy Carters who do so much for the poor and the suffering of the world.
