My two dogs just had a knock-down drag-out dog fight. In the house!
The 11 year-old dog, Sirius, got grumpy when 2 year-old Nick started playing with a squeaky ball. Sirius started after Nick and Nick jumped on Sirius. Now Nick has a bad tear in the skin below his eye. The vet said to bring him in for a look-see and an oral antibiotic. We will be driving into town after lunch to get Nick patched up. Damn, I wish they would get along together.

1. Maybe they just need to establish the alpha leader
my dogs do this from time to time. Never with a cut under the eye, but usually with a little blood. After they fight, things go back to normal. If I am around I break them up, but my wife won't get between them. Probably a good idea.

2. Worst fights I've ever had
between the dogs have been between my 2 bitches. I've found that a long handled push broom to get between them is the best tool to keep from me getting hurt.

Doesn't happen often but it's sure a pain when it does.

3. My dog and cat used to fight like that
I had a 4 pound yorkie and a 10 pound kitty and damn, they hated each other. But when we had to put the cat down, the yorkie got depressed and wouldn't eat. Pets are strange.

4. I have 4 dogs and every now and then
2 of them will get into it and then the other 2 will join in. This happens about twice a year - usually over a treat or toy. Worst thing that happened was one of them getting her ear bitten - looked like the scene of a murder there was so much blood!!! Hope the vet visit isn't too expensive!!

5. Sounds like it's a challenge for Alpha status.....
As the Alpha gets older, there can/will be challenges to his dominance. Hope everything works out ok.

6. our two girls have an acutely established dominance
but that doesn't stop one from irritating the other by pouncing for no reason or whatever.

Hope your puppies are okay...

7. My sister and her husband had 2 pit bulls.
They were father and son. One time they tore into one another in the house and she had to turn the garden hose on them to get them apart. That house was one wet mess. But of course, everyone knows about pit bull fights. Well, after that time, I ended up with Easy, the papa dog, because they could not let them be together again.

9. I took Nick-Nick to the vet in Brevard.
He is fine. No stitches required. He is on a couple of antibiotics. Devil-Dog! Cost of that dog fight? $49. I was braced for $100!

10. Well, I guess you got off cheap.
You must have a really great vet because most of them will charge you an arm and a leg just to examine the dog and prescribe and then sell you the antibiotics. My dog had a kidney infection and I had to get the antibiotics from the vet and she charged me $125.

11. You got off alright, then.
With Siberians, if there is no blood, its considered play, no matter how loud it gets. Two of mine are brothers, and they'll get into it once in a while.

Sometimes, my guys think the house was designed by NASCAR, and they use it for a racetrack!!

12. Devil Dog!
That's what I called my sister's pit-bull piece of shit that attacked my yellow lab--who, by the way, actually "won" the fight and sent the beast to the vet for stitches on her evil head. It was one of the scariest things I have personally witnessed. I jumped in and broke them up while my sister's boyfriend stood on the couch and my sister went to get a broom to stick between them. It sucked and I no longer let my dog associate with dogs like that.

Pit-bulls are obviously "red" dogs (self-centered, short-tempered, prone to destructive violence). Labs are "blue" (loyal, friendly, hard-working, tolerant--my dog's best pal is a cat, and peace-loving).
