Hollywood stars in blaze scare
London Evening Standard
16 December 2004

A fire broke out at exclusive London hotel Claridges today, disrupting plans for Hollywood stars Brad Pitt and Matt Damon to promote their new film Ocean's 12.

The small fire is thought to have broken out at the Mayfair hotel's kitchen.

Four fire engines were called to the scene and all the guests are thought to have been evacuated, including Pitt and Damon, who were scheduled to give a press conference about the movie sequel at in the hotel's ballroom.

A London Fire Brigade spokesman said: "Four fire engines were sent to the scene after a call at 11am. They are still there. I believe there was a small fire on the ground floor, probably in the kitchen area."
