Praise from the Boss doubles the risk of heart attack!
Kill them with kindness?!

Deadlines According to data compiled by the Stockholm Heart Epidemiology Programme, workers toiling under tight deadlines are six times more likely to suffer a heart attack within a day of a high pressure situation. The study, which examined various elements of stress in the workplace, reported that short-term stress was more likely to lead to heart attacks than long-term stress. This is bad news for journalists, among others, many of whom enjoy a reckless lifestyle. Interestingly, the study also noticed that praise from the boss can also double the risk of a heart attack.

That's the whole btw; here is the link anyway (cool publication): http://www.montrealmirror.com/2004/121604/front.html

1. If You Merit Praise from the Boss...
...you're likely putting in long hours, driving yourself hard, seeking perfection in all aspects of the job...all of which cause stress - a factor in heart disease. I think the authors of this study may have put the cart before the horse. Couldn't it be the type-A personality traits that the boss praises instead of the boss' praise causing a heart attack?
