Chlorine flavored cat food? |
|
Maybe I'm wrong here or maybe not, you decide. I go to Safeway this morning to pick up some food for Bob our guinea pig, i find the aisle where the pet stuff is located, get a bag of chow and walk to the end where all the cat food happened to be. Nudging the bags of cat food was the pool chemicals, bags of shock and chlorine and spa stuff, some with loose caps and a white residue. I was really surprised to this stuff in the same area as pet food, we have a pool and those chemicals are caustic. So i see the asst. manager and i ask him why they put the pool stuff in the same aisle and he says thats where the plan says it should go. Anyhow, i tell my thoughts on the subject, suggest they move it to maybe the hardware aisle, he tells me thats the placement but "feel free to call the company and voice your concerns." I tell him i will, he says "Good luck with that" which sounded to me like..."not gonna happen". I'm calling later on today,am i being unreasonable here, the asst manager didn't really seem to give a shit.

You'll get a response. I wrote a letter once to Safeway to complain about the rudeness of a clerk. I did get a personal answer (I sent back my cut up card) And coupons worth quite a bit of savings. I would stress your concern for the health of the pets and that you would not shop in that store again because of it.

3. I wouldn't give a shit if I were the asst. manager either. |

Unless both the catfood containers and the chemical containers are both open and somebody's pouring one into the other, it's not going to be a problem. You're not going to get contamination by proximity. Just consider how close the nasty shit under your kitchen sink is to where you prepare your food.

We peons on the ground (including manager and assistant) have no say whatsoever in the placement of the stuff in the store. This is figured out at the corporate level by morans who have never in their life worked in a grocery store (or probably any other environment where actual work is performed). They have probably never even been in one to shop - only to harass the workers.
Anyway, don't be too hard on the asst. manager who probably knows you're right. I would write a letter to the corporate office and explain why this is a bad idea - they actually do read their mail and often respond favorably to ideas or complaints of customers.
edited to add - make sure you give the street address of the store. Lots of towns have more than one Safeway. :hi:
