What the $#@*& good is insurance
if providers are not willing to bill it???

My son has a disease of the cornea, keratoconus, and he needs eye glasses. Typically our insurance doesn't cover eye glasses, but because Tim's need for glasses stems from an eye disease, our insurance will pay for them.

Well, try and find an optician who will bill the insurance company! I'm holding an approval number in my hand, one that the insurance company just verified is good until April... they're willing to pay.

No opticians will accept it. None. Cash or credit up front... then let insurance reimburse me.

Do I really have to choose between buying my son a Christmas present and buying him eye glasses?

I'm madder than hell right now.

2. Can you go through the opthomologist instead?
If they provide glasses, use an opthomologist instead of an optician. Check with the opthomologist first to see if they are willing to bill the ins. co. You also might want to check with the ins. co. to see what opthomologists are in-network.

6. They do the same thing here
If it is a reputable place, they know what your insurance will cover and charge you for the remainder. Wait, maybe I should go to eye "doctor" school. Is this better or this? This or this? See I'm ready to go and overcharge some people with or without insurance.

7. Your first mistake was assuming they actually give a shit.

Whether it be the business discouraged from billing them or the companies themselves... providers care only about the money that goes into their pockets. They don't give a shit about me, you, our families or anything else.

I hate this industry more than just about anything else in this world. They are nothing but a hellish sewer of parasites and vampires. Fuck them all.

8. my eye place will bill, they are a local business
Look more for a local business rather than a franchisey one. They seem to be easier to deal with

9. Call your Insurance Company and Ask for a Referral ...
....to a provider they will work with. It couldn't hurt.
