Your Blood for Your Utility Bill
BINGHAMTON, NY-December 16, 2004 — The American Red Cross has come up with a hot idea to attract more blood donors.
People in upstate New York and northern Pennsylvania who donate blood over the next few weeks will be able to enter a drawing to have a monthly gas and electric bill paid.

Red Cross officials say they'll select the names of two blood donors next month. The winners will receive a utility bill reimbursement of up to $500.

The Red Cross hopes the energy bill incentive will encourage more people to brave the cold weather to keep the region's blood supply adequate.

2. I'm not so sure its a good idea
to introduce pecuniary incentives. Could motivate people to lie on the screening questionnaire just to get into the drawing.
