A while back I approached Skinner asking if it would be a good idea to form a Singles Group, not so much a dating service, but a place to discuss issues about being single... so far very little has come of it, but maybe if a few other are serious about it, we can get some support...

It's just, I noticed it's difficult to get any serious talk about singles issues started here, especially in the Lounge.

I'm single never been married, and I'm just starting to get serious about getting back on the scene...

The last woman I fell for was a single mother. It didn't work out between us but I had high hopes of starting a long term relationship with her. I only wish there was a place where we could all talk about these things without it turning into a "hubba-hubba--me so horny" thread.

20. I just deleted my profile from Democratic Singles

It was a free site in the beginning. But now they want to charge. If you have to pay to reply to someone who initiates contact, then there's a chance for fraud. I'm not saying DS might be tempted. But many of those sites will send message notifications to folk from bogus accounts so they'll will cough up money to reply.

Plus, I'm in a big metropolitan area, and there were very women locally.

I on the other hand am kind of suspicious of free-sites, since they tend to attract a lot of stalkers or people posing as singles...

My area's semi-rural BTW so I don't get a chance to meet a lot of interesting people. The most interesting people I've met on the web are right here at DU. :hi:

22. I'd rather meet people directly.

I've only had one experience with anything as far as an online relationship and frankly, if it doesn't work out, it's my last as well.

It lets you get to know someone very deeply before you meet, but I think at times there's something to be said for getting to know someone without all the missing elements that exists with an online thing. Sorry for my somewhat jaded opinion.

I'm still seriously interested in trying to get a "Singles Support Group" going. I approached Skinner once before about this, but I'm guessing the Administrators Forum is going to be slow moving until after the holidays, so I probably won't bother them until early next year...

Anyone else want to chime in?
