What does a typical MRI scan cover?
Having been in the giant pressure cooker for 1.75 hours, and injected with radioactive goo so I'd light up like a christmas tree for the machine, what will it show?

I know their main reason was to look for anomalies such as MS. Sounds like that turned up negative.

But if I had a psychological disorder, can that show up in the tests in the form of unusual patterns on the display?

1. Strictly psychological issues? Nope.

MRI will not show those. It can show a variety of brain problems, though, where psychological effects are caused by an organic defect.

4. Ah. Now my neuro had said in the voicemail (VM)
that he saw a protruding disc pinching some nerves in the neck MRI and that he'd talk to me in greater detail in my followup appointment.

I was expecting another 28 hours before getting a response as they said it'd take 2 working days before I'd get the results.

The VM said nothing more. Now maybe there's nothing else to worry about. Or anything that would require immediate notification. And if there has been long-term damage by psychological disorder or the drugs used to control it, oh well. Applesauce happens. :D

It's cool he responded so fast though.

3. Psych problems won't show up
The test is magnetic resonance imagine. Remember the bonging sound you heard? Those are the magnets. The test will show (depending on what part was scanned) will show the normal and abnormalities i.e.; tumors, blood clots, torn ligaments, torn meniscus, cysts, pretty much what they are looking for. Enlarged or too small organs. Was this a brain scan?
They would be looking for pooling of blood, tumors etc. They can also look at the size of your hypothalmus which they think might have some effect from depression....but that wouldn't be an indication of psych problems.

5. Brain and upper (cervical) neck.
I know nothing except for the disjointed neck diagnosis, which I'd bet he discovered fairly quickly. (he did say he suspected the neck to be the main issue.)

Still, I will know in one week ,three days, as to where I go.

In the mean time, it's party like it's 1999.9. :D
