Pantera's Anselmo Breaks Silence on Dimebag Murder (Anselmo done w/music?)
NEW YORK (Billboard) - Former Pantera frontman Phil Anselmo has made his first public statement about the murder of bandmate "Dimebag" Darrell Abbott, with whom he had feuded in the press in recent years.

snip........

Anselmo did not attend Dimebag's funeral in Texas earlier this week out of respect to the Abbott family.

"I never got a chance to say goodbye in the right way and it kills me," he said. "I wish to God I could've gone to his funeral, but I have to respect his family's wishes, and they do not want me there. I believe I belong there, but I understand completely."

The artist, who now fronts hard rock act Superjoint Ritual, ended his message with hints that he may not resurface for some time. "This has changed the entire world, and this is the last you'll be seeing of me for a long time," he said. "I hope you're happy, heavy metal music magazines, media, I hope you're happy. I'm done."

2. What's the story?
I never heard why Pantera broke up and didn't even know there was bad blood until Dimebag was killed.

I mean, I'm a news/entertainment junkie, but one person can only keep up with so much. Since I don't actually play an instrument or sing, music news is what tends to slip past my radar more than anything else.

3. He's getting a raw deal from fans and the metal media
He was recently quoted in a metal magazine as saying that Dimebag should be "beaten". But that's just talking smack for gossipy entertainment's sake; like professional wrestlers who vow they're going to rip their opponent's head off. Now some morons are claiming that Anselmo tacitly supported Dimebag's killing.

4. He didn't support
Darrell being killed. That you're right about. But I can honestly tell you. Things were not well between them at all.. It really got out of hand for a while, between them personally. No fans, No media.
