Poll question: Do You Have Purebred or Mixed Breed Pets?
Edited on Fri Dec-17-04 12:16 AM by Placebo
I bought my cat at a pet store, but she isn't a specific breed or anything.

Everyone I know with dogs went out and bought a specific purebred dog.

6. Both kinds
All dogs: one purebred (a poodle) and two mutts, one which resembles a Scottie and another which resembles a large wire-haired white rat!

8. Not by the papers, but....
Angel is technically supposed to be a mixed breed. Her mum is pure-bred, but mum got loose in the cattery and no one knew who papa was, or if papa was one of several. They had a Siamese, an Abbyssinian and something else at the cattery when Mum was in heat. Angel is probably offspring of the Siamese, no matter what her siblings ended up.

Angel looks Siamese, acts Siamese, but is the Suzuki method model. At 13, she's barely 6 pounds, can sit in the palm of my not very large hand, and is only 7 inches tall at the shoulder. She's tiny and skinny and eats like a little piggy. Even if we had papers on her, though, because of her size, she's too small to show or breed even if she wasn't broken. And she'd eat everything in sight. (Her metabolic system is fine, she's just one of THOSE types.)

Fuzz is pretty generic. American Shorthair, but also unpapered. He was a rescue from a home with a two year old. Poor Fuzz.... dropped on his head a few times as a kitten, and hypoxia from being dragged around by the neck... not too bright a cat thanks to head injuries, we think. Sweet, though.

9. Got a purebred Jack Russell and...I actually think the other one's
a dingo. No, seriously. I swear to God it's a dingo. It looks like a dingo, it acts exactly like domesticated dingoes do...it's a bloody dingo, for God's sake. Bought it as a tiny, tiny pup from the Humane Society, and I mean real tiny, could have been a Chihuahua pup...but it grew into a god-damned dingo. She's a great dog, I absolutely love her, don't get me wrong, I just wasn't expecting a dingo.

13. breed?
i have had 6 cats now and the closest to purebred was my cosmo, who was either mostly norwegan forest cat or maine coon. one seems to have some abysynian. whiskers was likely a bit of angora. but his sister was just a tabby. as is basil and his sister has small maine coon/norwegan forest cat all over her.
quite the stinker she is.
