It Is Only the Second Hour of Christmas Vacation; the children are already
fighting and driving me insane. I still hope that one day my almost 15 year old will not lower herself to the level of my 6 year old. She wants to watch T.V. he is intent upon playing playstation. Oy. Someone. Help. Please?

Edited on Fri Dec-17-04 03:59 PM by CornField
whiskey is for the adults ;)

As for something constructive: I've been reduced to using egg timers.

7. benedryl work on my 11 and 13 yr old every time
but what's even better is sending them off to grannys for a nice vacation. I'm certain mine will make travel plans when I let them know we are painting the bathroom and hallway while they are off next week. The only rhing they'll fight about is who gets to use the phone first.

6. You should get one of those "Danceoff" games for the Playstation
Maybe that would be something they can do together. They're all the rage among my teenage employees.

8. Don't you hate it when there is a full week off before the
festivities begin? The least the school could do is keep them there through the 22nd. ;-)

12. I've only got one home.
:hi: My daughter is bowling with friends, so it should be peaceful here for a couple of hours yet. It probably won't get too bad today though, because we're heading to a neighbor's house later for their annual Christmas caroling party.

Monet just barfed in the hallway. It's always something. If not the kids, it's one of the cats.

My boy, the 12 yr old, starts all the fights, but is the funniest one I have. My girls are reeeally serious, so it makes it even more fun for him to pick the fights. three weeks...THREE WEEKS! AARGH!

25. I don't have kids so my advice is probably useless but
what about telling them to work it out themselves or neither gets to use the TV?

Oh, and what about just making them go outside?

Hope you get a little peace and quiet soon!

31. Gee you must have some messed up household :)
Just kidding. My two teenagers, girl, 17, licensed, boy 15, are off to play in the band at tonight's HS basketball game. They have been yelling at one another for a good half hour.
Girl wants to get their 5 minutes early, boy 5 minutes late. Everyone is crying right now, including the dog. And they are now both 20 minutes late and are going to get in trouble with the band director.

But me....I am having a glass of whine and posting on DU....ahhhhh!

as an aside I can remember them getting out of school for summer vacation and they got into a real dilly of a fight on the ride home. It was over one of those state quarters which neither was collecting. I stopped the car and got out and started to walk home. Embarrassed they came running after me to get back in the car.
And we were still in the driveway of the school!

But I do love them both. Keep the faith, it only gets worse, but you will miss them so much once they go their own way.
